2022 U.S. Crop Production

2022 U.S. CROP PRODUCTION – The National Ag Statistics Service has issued the final crop production estimate for 2022.

PEANUTS – Peanut production is forecast at 5.77 million pounds (2,885,500 tons) in 2022, down 9 percent from 2021. Area harvested is expected to total 1.41 million acres, down 8 percent from 2021. Based on conditions as of October 1, the average yield for the United States is forecast at 4,090 pounds per acre, down 40 pounds per acre from 2021. CORN - Corn production for grain is forecast at 13.9 billion bushels, down 8 percent from 2021. Based on conditions as of October 1, yields are expected to average 171.9 bushels per harvested acre, down 4.8 bushels from last year. Area harvested for grain is forecast at 80.8 million acres, down 5% from the previous year.

SOYBEANS - Soybean production for beans is forecast at 4.31 billion bushels, down 3 percent from 2021. Based on conditions as of October 1, yields are expected to average 49.8 bushels per harvested acre, DOWN 1.9 bushel from 2021. Area harvested for beans in the United States is forecast at 86.6 million acres, up less than1 percent from 2021.

COTTON - All cotton production is forecast at 13.8 million 480-pound bales, DOWN 21 percent from 2021. Based on conditions as of October 1, yields are expected to average 842 pounds per harvested acre, UP 23 pounds from 2021. Upland cotton production is forecast at 13.3 million 480-pound bales, DOWN 22 percent from 2021. All cotton area harvested is forecast at 7.88 million acres, DOWN 23% percent from 2021.
